Back to School Fundraiser
On September 11, 62 days before a final vote, the superintendent of the Olympia School District released a Policy 6883 Closure Analysis and an accompanying letter to families in the district. The proposal closes 3 neighborhood elementary schools: Madison Elementary School, McKenny Elementary School, and Leland P. Brown Elementary School, in the 2027-28 school year. While also rewriting the district’s strategic plan, focusing on ‘authentic learning’ and ‘relationships,’ the superintendent has convened a committee to go out for a capital bond in February or April 2027. Both of these actions are against the Facility Efficiency and Long-Term Planning Citizens’ Action Committee’s findings.
OSD4All’s focus remains on having a public school system that serves the needs of all students first and foremost. They should be following the lead of our input as families and staff who care for and guide these students every day.
