About Us

A Family-Led Collective Committed to Fully Funded Public Education

What started out as a handful of dedicated parents has grown into a full-on grassroots movement. With hundreds of community members, we provide clear, accessible ways to engage with our democratic process and ensure that our public education system is inclusive, equitable, and accountable to its students and families.

OSD4ALL was started out of a crisis in the ‘23/’24 school year. The Olympia School District and its board of directors were considering closing two schools to fix a $3.5m projected budget gap. The community rallied together to come up with solutions that included increasing enrollment, downsizing the district office, applying for federal grants and increasing revenue through early learning. There was advocacy at the state level that led to increased state funding, letters signed by district educators and 15 parent-teacher groups, and a successful legal appeal of the closure process brought forward by a group of parents. No schools were closed!

With that major win behind our sails, we’ve achieved nonprofit status and promise to nurture the momentum that we started. We’re partnering with other advocacy groups and community organizations to uplift the needs of our public education system. We’re participating in the legislative process to ensure that public education is fully funded. And we’re creating community with folks from all walks of life, including you. Thank you for being a part of this movement.

OSD4ALL Board

Sheila Beadling, President

Sheila Beadling has been a stalwart Northeast neighborhood dweller since 2009. Her tending of the Roosevelt garden is a thing of beauty, as is her ability to help their PTA stay on task and raise funds.

As a member of OSD4ALL, Sheila has been critical in connecting community members from all over the district. Her love of Olympia and our schools is infectious. She tends to her relationships like she tends to her seeds and we have all reaped the rewards.

When not getting excited about school fundraisers, Sheila is spending time with her 2 kids, partner, and dog or she’s in the garden. Somewhere. She’s in a garden.

Erika Lari, Co-President/Treasurer

Erika Lari moved to Olympia from New Jersey in 1995, and quickly fell in love with the city’s deeply unique culture and community. Erika has over 20 years of experience in marketing, design, and outreach.

Knowing and loving Olympia as a student, a service worker, a state worker, and a downtown business owner, has allowed Erika to foster many relationships and hold a variety of perspectives on the challenges we face as a community. She is excited to work with OSD4All to ensure a brighter future for the children of Olympia

In her spare time, Erika enjoys listening to records, hugging her family, and playing with her cats. You cannot underestimate how much Erika loves to play with her cats.
