You must file your intention the week of May 5th-9th
This year in Olympia School District Positions 3 and 5 are up for election. Position 3 is on the east side and includes areas around Pioneer, Centennial, Washington Middle School and Olympia High.
Position 5 is on the westside and includes areas around Ken Lake, Delphi, and Capital Mall.
- You must be a registered voter and live within the director area, so check to be sure you’re qualified here.
- During filing week May 5-9, candidates may file for an office online or in person at the local elections office. To find out more check out the county elections page here.
- Be aware of state requirements for all candidates and elected officials to file a financial disclosure statement and report all campaign finances to the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC). Annual filing is required if elected. More information can be found at: pdc.wa.gov/learn.
- The State Association for school directors, WSSDA, has a useful (though dated) video you can check out to learn more about the roles and responsibilities.
You are not alone. There are many resources and people in the community ready to help you on your path towards supporting students. Thank you for your consideration and good luck!
