Hansen is a neighborhood school in Northwest Olympia that boasts more programs than any other elementary school in the district. There are several preschool programs and HAP, the mixed grade Hansen Alternative Program.

CHILDCARE:
EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS:
  • Developmental Preschool: Developmental Preschool is an integrated Special Education preschool program designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Intensive Preschool: This program is highly structured, offers a high staff-to-student ratio, has opportunities for full-day services, and offers less access to non-disabled peers than Developmental Preschool. It utilizes an ABA (applied behavior analysis) approach.
SPECIAL EDUCATION:
  • DLC Program (Developmental Learning Classroom): The DLC Program serves students with moderate cognitive delays.
ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM:
  • HAP (Hansen Alternative Program): HAP’s mission is to bind children, teachers and parents together in a progressive educational environment. This setting enhances a child’s love of discovery and learning, while developing academic and social skills at an individualized pace.
TRANSPORTATION:
  • There is no district provided transportation for the HAP Program.
