Garfield is a neighborhood school tucked away in a walkable community in West Olympia. It has the sweetest playground with a map of the EARTH on it. It is the mission of Garfield Elementary to create an environment which promotes critical thinking, respects diversity, strives to integrate understanding, and invites participation by students, staff, families, and community members.

EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS:
- Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP): ECEAP (pronounced “E-Cap”) is funded by Washington State for children 3 and 4 and, in some locations, infants or toddlers who are younger than 3 years old.
SPECIAL EDUCATION:
- DLC Program (Developmental Learning Classroom): The DLC Program serves students with moderate cognitive delays.
COLLEGE PREPARATORY:
- AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination): The AVID class is a college preparatory elective that supports students in achieving their college dreams. AVID is designed in high school to be a four year program that helps students develop the skills they need to succeed in college, and supports students in taking challenging high school courses In elementary & middle school, AVID helps students learn about communication, organization, self-advocacy, & study habits.
