ABOUT
Garfield is the first school that Olympia built on the westside. It was once called ‘Westside School’ even! As Olympia has grown westward, the area around it is a tight knit neighborhood with Olympia’s original Food Coop, and a mixed community of families, college students, and community-minded neighbors.

For preschoolers that qualify, Garfield houses the Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP). They also have a DLC Program (Developmental Learning Classroom) to serve students with moderate cognitive delays in a non-integrated setting and have the AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) curriculum, which teaches organizational, communication, and self-advocacy skills to help with college and career-readiness.
FOOD & TRANSPORT
Garfield has free breakfast and lunch, as do ALL westside schools.

Currently near ONE, 41, and 48 buslines. Changes to 9x, 31, & 32 buslines on May 3, 2026.

TESTIMONIALS

The Garfield community is incredibly supportive and inclusive. The faculty and principal are very responsive and our kids feel very comfortable there. I’m also glad that it is one of the more diverse elementary schools in Olympia.
