District 3 School Board Candidate, Britney Johnson

At the time of this writing, 2 candidates have declared candidacy and filed with the Public Disclosures Commission for the Olympia School Board.

This week, we look at District 3 candidate Britney Johnson.

Hello OSD4ALL! I’m Britney Johnson, and I’m running for Position 3 on the school board because I care deeply about our kids, our schools, and this amazing community. I have a feeling you all understand my feelings – this group was born out of concern for our schools and community and I am right there with you.

My husband and I have two kids in elementary school here in Olympia. Like a lot of families, we got pulled into school board stuff over the last few years. (Turns out, it’s kind of a big deal!) We asked questions, listened and learned a lot. That experience showed me how important school board decisions are—for every student, every teacher, and every family.

Hello OSD4ALL! I’m Britney Johnson, and I’m running for Position 3 on the school board because I care deeply about our kids, our schools, and this amazing community.

We moved from Iowa because we watched policies and special interests that directly hurt our kids and community continue to triumph. We came to Olympia looking for the opposite, and we couldn’t be happier with what we have found. So many people are willing to put their time and voices into standing up for kids, for fairness and for the kind of future we are all looking for. To be honest, I had never seen that before in my life and was beyond moved by the spirit of the community. It really is so incredible.

By day, I’m an interior designer running my own business, B Design (check it out at www.b-design.us!), where I help people make the most of their spaces without breaking the bank. Efficiency is my jam—whether it’s designing a room or figuring out how to make our schools work better for everyone. My approach to the school board will be the same as my approach to interior design. I will focus on smart solutions, creative budgeting, and listening to those impacted. This is why I am stepping up so every kid in Olympia gets the support they need to do their best.

Bottom line? I’m a parent, a small-business owner and someone who believes in this town. Let’s make our schools even better—together.

If you have any questions for this candidate, we will be compiling them and presenting them to all candidates that declare their candidacy. Write us at together@osd4all.org.

OSD4ALL is not a political organization and will not endorse any candidates. We do however want those who reside within the district to be able to easily access information on all the candidates, engage with them equitably, and ensure all questions for the candidates are answered (or at least asked) so you can make an informed decision on the school board members.
