Three candidates have officially filed for candidacy in the Olympia School Board Director race in District 3, and three candidates have filed in District 5. Each race will go to the primary on August 5th in their respective districts. On November 4th, two candidates in each race will compete districtwide in the general election. We will continue to engage each candidate and inform the district community, and we encourage your support and turnout.
Today, we look at District 5 candidate, Emily Leddige.
“Hi, I’m Emily Leddige, and I’m running for Olympia School Board District 5! I’m a parent, an advocate in the special needs community, a dedicated public servant, and a committed member of our local community. Through these roles, I’ve seen firsthand how important strong schools are to our families, and I’m ready to step up and serve in a new way.
I’m especially passionate about maintaining low class sizes, strengthening support for our teachers, and ensuring all students, whether or not they have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), have access to the resources they need to thrive.
With so much change in government and education policy, I want to bring my experience as a public servant to the table. I know how to navigate complex systems, and I’m ready to help shape policies that are practical, thoughtful, and focused on putting students first, while meeting them where they are.
I’m especially passionate about maintaining low class sizes, strengthening support for our teachers, and ensuring all students, whether or not they have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), have access to the resources they need to thrive.
I’m excited to begin this new journey and continue serving our community in a meaningful way.”
If you have any questions for this candidate, we will be compiling them and presenting them to all candidates that declare their candidacy.
OSD4ALL is not a political organization and will not endorse any candidates. We do however want those who reside within the district to be able to easily access information on all the candidates, engage with them equitably, and ensure all questions for the candidates are answered (or at least asked) so you can make an informed decision on the school board members.
