ABOUT
The Options program began as two multi-age classrooms at McKinley Elementary School in 1984. The program was popular, expanded, and in 1995 Lincoln Elementary became an alternative elementary school offering the Options program to Olympia School District and Lincoln service area families. They primarily use the same curriculum as other district schools, and do have AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination), which teaches organizational, communication, and self-advocacy skills to help with college and career-readiness.
Here’s how Lincoln is different!
- All classrooms are split with 2 grades in each, and interdisciplinary themes are part of each subject.
- Parent participation is not required, but heavily encouraged, to execute events like the yearly events like Camp Elderberry and the Harvest Festival.
- The school’s Community Council funds a part-time Spanish instructor.
ENROLLMENT
Lincoln DOES have a small catchment area in the South Capitol Neighborhood. Residents can opt into Lincoln or Pioneer as their first choice. They can alternatively explore in-district transfers. Catchment residents feed into Washington Middle School and Olympia High School. Most of Lincoln’s enrollment is via their lottery. Lottery space varies yearly. March 4 & 12 are info nights. Observation week and lottery dates TBD. Priority for the lottery is catchment residents, then siblings of current students, in-district students, children of district employees, and out-of district students.
TRANSPORT & CHILDCARE
Lincoln does have before and after school Y-Care.Currently, near 13 busline. Changes to 13 and 15 buslines on May 3, 2026.
LIMITED BUS STOPS outside of the catchment. Bus stops at Madison, Roosevelt and Garfield elementary schools.

TESTIMONIALS
You can tell the choices made at Lincoln are focused on the children. There are countless ways for caregivers to get involved in the school. The communication is stellar. The school is community focused. The multi grade classrooms are great for kids who struggle with change.
